How it works
In plain terms.
Minoxidil widens blood vessels in the scalp and prolongs the growth phase of the hair cycle, so miniaturised follicles produce thicker hair for longer. It does not address DHT, which is why it pairs well with finasteride.
How to take it
- Apply to a dry scalp twice a day, morning and night, to thinning areas.
- Wash your hands after. Keep it off the face and away from children and pets.
- Give it four months before judging.
What to expect
- Temporary extra shedding in the first weeks as new growth pushes out old hairs.
- Regrowth typically visible at 3 to 6 months.
- Stopping reverses gains within a few months.

Minoxidil (topical and compounded)
Topical minoxidil is FDA approved for hair regrowth. Compounded topical combinations that include minoxidil are prepared by our licensed compounding pharmacy and are not FDA approved.
- Temporary increased shedding in the first weeks is common as new growth begins.
- Scalp irritation, dryness, or itching; unwanted hair growth where the product spreads (keep it off the face and wash hands after use).
- Stop and call your prescriber if you develop chest pain, rapid heartbeat, faintness, dizziness, sudden unexplained weight gain, or swelling of the hands or feet. These are signs the medication is being absorbed into the body.
- Do not use on a broken, inflamed, or infected scalp. Not for use by women in the men's strength, or by anyone under 18.

Do I need a prescription?
No. It is over the counter. Many patients add it to a finasteride prescription so it arrives together.
Can I use the compounded blend instead?
Yes. The compounded topical puts finasteride and minoxidil in one bottle at prescriber-set strengths. It requires a prescription and is not FDA approved.
